Chiranjit Manna wins 11th Late Bharatbai Halkude Memorial Below 1800 Rating Tournament 2024

Chiranjit Manna, Arnav Kadam and Dhiman Mitra scored an unbeaten 8/9 at 11th Late Bharatbai Halkude Memorial Below 1800 Rating Tournament 2024 part of LBHM Chess Festival 2024. Chiranjit won the tournament due to better tie-break score, Arnav and Dhiman were placed second and third. The total prize fund of the entire festival was ₹3024234, for Below 1800 Rating tournament it was ₹1224111. The top three prizes were ₹125000, ₹100111 and ₹50000 along with a trophy each respectively. The three-day nine-round tournament was organized by Aryan Enterprises at Dhruv Global School in Pune, Maharashtra from 24th to 26th May 2024. This is Chiranjit's first rating tournament triumph of the year. He went on to win two more rating tournaments in Bangladesh after this.

Top three score an unbeaten 8/9

Dhiman Mitra and Arnav Kadam were the coleaders 7.5/8, heading into the final round. They drew their game. Chiranjit Manna, trailing by a half point, defeated Hemant Chourasiya to finish with 8/9. He won the tournament, Arnav second and Dhiman third. 13-year-old Arnav gained 104.88 Elo rating points at this event and 102.98 at the 10th LBHM Rating Open 2024. In total, he gained a whopping 207.86 Elo rating points. Chiranjit went on to win two more rating tournaments - Classical and Blitz Open in Bangladesh. A total of 666 players took part from various parts of the country, one from Germany and three from the USA. The three-day nine round Below 1800 Rating tournament was organized by Aryan Enterprises at Dhruv Global School in Pune, Maharashtra from 24th to 26th May 2024. The time control of the event was 40 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
