Kartavya Anadkat wins SLAN First International Open FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2023
After a perfect 9/9 at the 5th Ayodhana Rating Open 2023, untitled Kartavya Anadkat started as the sixth seed at the 1st SLAN International Tournament in Hyderabad. He continued his epic run to finish the tournament with a massive score of 8.5/9, ahead of four IMs. 6th Top seed of the Tournament Mr. Kartavya Anadkat from Gujarat is the Champion of the Slan First International Open FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2023. IM Anuj Shrivatri was the first runner-up, while IM Ramanathan Balasubramanian was the second runner-up of the tournament. The Rising Star: Kartavya Anadkat
In the final round, Kartavya Anadkat beat IM Krishna Teja N, and He scored 8 ½ Points out of 9 Rounds. This is Kartavya's 3rd triumph in a classical tournament this year, after winning the 1st Late Shri Dhiraj Singh Raghuvanshi Memorial Rating Open 2023, and the 5th Ayodhana Rating Open.
There are three players tied with 8 points for Second place: Anuj Shrivatri, Ramanathan Balasubramanian and Lad Mandar Pradip. Due to the better tie-break score, Anuj Shrivatri, Ramanathan Balasubramanian and Lad Mandar Pradip are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively. Winner Anuj Shrivatri was awarded the trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/-.
1st Runner-up Anuj Shrivatri received a 60,000/- cash prize with a trophy, and 2nd Runner-up Ramanathan Balasubramanian received a cash prize of Rs. 40,000/- along with a trophy. The total prize fund of the tournament was Rs. 10,00,000, and was distributed among 97 prize winners.
The tournament attracted 525 participants from all over India, 7 federation participants from India, the USA, Bangladesh, England, Switzerland, Kenya, and Cyprus, totaling 331 FIDE-rated players (including 4 IM & 1 FM).
