Saravana Krishnan wins Warrior Chess Academy's 2nd FIDE Rated 2026

IM Saravana Krishnan P scored 7.5/9 points to win Warrior Chess Academy - International 2nd FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament 2026. IM Saravana Krishnan, Vijay Shreeram P, IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam, Sivan S Roshan, Mrityunjay Kumar, and Sidharth Mohan all scored 7.5/9 points and secured 1st to 6th positions, respectively, according to tie-breaks. The tournament was successfully held from 25th February to 1st March 2026 at the Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, by Warrior Chess Academy, with a total prize money of ₹7,00,000, with top 3 prizes of ₹50,000, ₹40,000 and ₹30,000. Saravana's second podium finish of 2026

IM Saravana Krishnan won his first tournament title at Warrior Chess Academy's 2nd FIDE-Rated 2026. Earlier this year, Saravana finished in the 3rd place at the Late Shri Vasudeva V. Dempo Memorial Fide Rating 2026. Going into the last round, Vijay Shreeram P and Sivan S Roshan were co-leading the event with Kolla Bhavan. Vijay and Sivan drew their game, while Saravana won his game against Kolla Bhavan.

The 9-round Swiss System tournament was played with a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment from move one. The event saw excellent participation from 203 rated players (including 2 IMs and 2 FMs) and 68 unrated players from 4 federations, making it a competitive and vibrant chess festival. Alongside the cash prizes, 8 Cycles, 8 Smartwatches, 23 chess clocks, and 1 Smart TV were awarded to various winners.
