Saptarshi RoyChowdhury receives the Chess Olympiad Torch at Jhansi
India's 35th and West Bengal's sixth GM Saptarshi RoyChowdhury received the Chess Olympiad Torch at Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Saptarshi had podium finishes in all over the country and Prague, Czech Republic. He has won a Round Robin tournament in Bangladesh and various open tournaments in the country. CM Ojasva Singh increased his rating 1933 to 2278 within three months in 2021. He has won a few state level open tournaments and also a round-robin event in Novi Sad, Serbia. After WFM Nityata Jain, Ojasva became the second teenager to participate in the Torch Relay who is not an IM, WGM or GM. They both are a strong prospect for a future WIM and IM. Photo: AICF

Tuesday 5th July 2022 - Ms. Rama Niranjan, Minister of Legislative Council received the torch at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Jhansi. India's 35th GM Saptarshi RoyChowdhury took the Torch forward at Jhansi in presence of Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, President AICF.
Gwalior - The Minister of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, Govt. of MP, Narendra Singh Tomar received the Torch at Gwalior and handed it over to Gwalior's own CM Ojasva Singh.
