Sumit Grover wins 2nd Kashmir Rating Open 2023
Sumit Grover scored 7.5/9 to win 2nd Kashmir Rating Open 2023. Hasan Ashraf and Pradeep Tiwari also scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. Both Sumit and Pradeep remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. Top three prizes were ₹31000, ₹21000 and ₹11000 along with a trophy each respectively. The tournament was held from 10th to 15th June 2023 at Indoor Sports Complex, Polo Ground in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. It was organized by The Kashmir Chess Club, Srinagar. Sumit Grover and Pradeep Tiwari were the coleaders 7/8 heading into the final round. They faced each other and drew their game. Four players were in pursuit - Deepak Batra, Samrat Ghorai, Hasan Ashraf and Keshav Mehra. Deepak drew against Samrat, Hasan defeated Keshav to secure second place in tie-breaks.

A total of 117 players took part in this six-day nine-round Swiss League Open Rating tournament. The tournament was organized by The Kashmir Chess Club at Polo View, Srinagar from 10th to 15th June 2023. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
