Bharat Kumar Reddy Poluri wins Krishna Gopal Kapoor Memorial Rating Open 2024

Bharat Kumar Reddy Poluri and Naitik R Mehta scored an unbeaten 8/9 each at Krishna Gopal Kapoor Memorial Rating Open 2024. The top seed, Bharat won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Naitik secured second place. Kartavya Anadkat scored sole 7.5/9 to be placed third. Bharat drew with the eventual runner-up, Naitik in the seventh round. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹1100000. The top three prizes were ₹100000, ₹60000 and ₹40000 along with a trophy each. The five-day nine-round Swiss league rating tournament was organized by UP Chess Sports Association at Ganges Club in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh from 18th to 22nd December. Four players - Bharat Kumar Reddy Poluri, Kamad Mishra, Naitik R Mehta and Arpan Das were the leaders 7/8 each, going into the final round. Arpan lost to Bharat and Naitik defeated Kamad. Bharat became champion. Naitik secured second place. Rishabh Nishad conceded against Kartavya Anadkat and the latter finished third.
