Arushi Severin Helen D Silva dominates AICF Smart Girls Rating Open 2024 Rajnandgaon

Arushi Severin Helen D Silva scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win AICF Smart Girls Rating Open 2024 Rajnandgaon. Five girls - Navieka Jaiswal, Jesh Kesharwani, Shruti Sarkar, Aditi Pandey and Rashi Warudkar scored 7/9 each. They secured second to sixth place respectively according to tie-breaks. Arushi drew with the eventual runner-up, Navieka in the sixth round. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹100000. The top three prizes were ₹21000, ₹15000 and ₹8000 along with a trophy each respectively. Smart Girls rating tournament is just like Chess for Everyone Rating tournament but only for female players, where the entry fee is low. Arushi's sole rating tournament triumph in 2024

Top seed of the tournament, Arushi Severin Helen D Silva was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Navieka Jaiswal, Shruti Sarkar and Aditi Pandey were trailing her by a full point at 6.5/8 each. A draw was enough for her to become a clear champion and that's what she did against Kashvee Jain. Navieka drew with Ishika Madke to secure second place. Paridhi Lilhare lost against Jesh Kesharwani and the latter finished third. 9-yaer-old Shruti was the youngest top ten finisher. She scored 7/9 to claim fourth place.

A total of 119 players participated from various states across the country. The five-day nine-round Swiss league Rating tournament was organized by District Chess Association Rajnandgaon at Agrasen Bhavan in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh from 18th to 22nd December 2024. The time control for the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
