by Rasika Ratnaparkhi - 05/02/2025

Have you ever walked into a place and felt the incredible vibe right away? That’s exactly what happened on January 18th at the Ambit Chess Club. Ambit turned their cafeteria into an amazing chess club and it has already become a favorite spot for chess lovers. The response to the three events held so far has been fantastic. If you want to compete, learn ,or just enjoy the game, this is the perfect place for you! But don’t forget, registration is mandatory! Check out the article to find out how you can sign up.

Ambit’s deep-rooted commitment to chess in India

Ambit Private Limited has been one of the biggest supporters of chess in India. As chess is growing faster, it’s exciting to see more corporates becoming a part of this journey. As Mr. Ashok Wadhwa, the CEO of Ambit shared with us earlier, chess has always been a part of their culture. They have been organizing annual in-house chess tournaments for many years. On top of that, they also have a special ‘Ambit Chess Committee’ that has been working hard to promote chess in India.

In a past interview, Karan Wadhwa, the Director of Ambit, shared that chess is his go-to way of staying active. It not only helps him stay focused but also teaches him to handle unpredictability… something common in both chess and finance. In fact, his dedication to the game is not limited to himself or his office; he has been encouraging his family members to join in too. This shows how committed Ambit is to promoting chess!

In December 2023, Ambit took a big step forward by sponsoring GM Vidit Gujrathi who is now their brand ambassador. By supporting one of India’s top grandmasters, they wanted to inspire more people to take up the game. One year later, they hosted a simul with Vidit, giving their employees an opportunity to play against a Grandmaster! It was a great success and they brought it back again this year. At this year’s simul, Ashok Wadhwa made a generous decision to sponsor Narayani Marathe’s chess expenses for the year. All these gestures reflect how passionate Ambit is about supporting chess growth in India.

After seeing their passion for chess, the next step was, in a way, meant to happen. They recently launched the Ambit Chess Club - a place where chess lovers can connect, learn and play together! This space was inaugurated on ChessBase India’s ninth anniversary - 18th January, at the Ambit House in Lower Parel, Mumbai.

Ambit transformed their cafeteria into an amazing chess club!

This place can host up to 40 players.

U-8 Asian Champion, Narayani Marathe and her coach FM Sajjan Das Joshi inaugurated the club!

The launch day kicked off with an exciting rapid tournament featuring 37 participants.

Ambit made sure that everyone stayed energized throughout the event. A big thanks to the Ambit House support staff for arranging everything properly!

It was the first day and the place was almost full - what an exciting start to the journey!

Vidhi, Yash, and Raju from the ChessBase India team ensured everything ran smoothly!

A great start left the players excited for what's next! That’s why to keep the excitement going, the club hosted two thrilling events in two consecutive weeks.
